Vibrations Of Doom
This is a very cool website which offers real player files of a wide range of classic 80's bands, many of which belong to the thrash metal genre, and are listed here. You can listen to whole albums and EP's, and get to know many obscure acts. The sound quality is not high (32 Kbps), but is good enough for you to get a fairly good idea of the bands' music. All these albums can actually be purchased on a CD-R, from the person running the site, for a very reasonable price.
This is an extensive list of thrash metal bands featuring some very rare acts as well as all the "usual suspects". It hasn't been updated for a long time, but the number of bands you can find information about is considerable.
A cool website with a regularly updated Reviews/News/Interviews/Concert Pics sections as well as a small MP3 one where you can hear some young bands making their first steps into the metal realm.
Another very good website with loads of reviews, interviews and articles about a vast number of metal bands from all possible genres. Worth checking out is the Download Section which contains a vast amount of mp3 files with several very obscure bands included.
A website dedicated entirely to the thrash metal genre. Apart from the obligatory Bands/Reviews/Interviews Sections, you can find some interesting articles there about the Bay Area thrash metal scene, an explanation and definitions of different metal genres as well as some polls made by the creators of the website as well as some voted by the readers.
The name of this website would not make you guess what the name of the game is: it is entirely dedicated to the thrash metal genre consisting of various forums where the fans can discuss their favourite bands as well as promote some more or less known ones. Another valuable addition to it is the radio station where you can listen to your favourite bands all the year round. A compulsory site for thrash metal fans.
An excellent site with reviews of classic thrash albums which could serve you as a very good reference point. The website covers all the famous thrash metal acts, but will also introduce you to a certain number of very unknown ones. You can learn a lot about the genre from there.
A cool webiste which concentrates on traditional, thrash, death, black and doom metal with pages and forums dedicated to those genres. There is a page which provides a brief definition for every existing metal genre. The site officially hosts bands among which one can recognize some big names from the thrash metal scene: past and present (Forbidden, Wrathchild America, Mastery).
Dedicated to the worldwide thrash metal scene, this site is built to promote all underground thrash metal bands around the world. The site works as a community project, so keep on sending your news, your music, pictures and more.
A good music/cinema webzine, which also features an online rock TV, and is a promo agency, too. This site is not strictly for metal, but there is lot of information from the world of music on it as well as quite a few reviews of metal acts' works.
Give a listen to this great idea: a thrash metal maniac has put together some of the most memorable riffs in thrash metal history to produce several riff-symphonies which will be an excellent test for your knowledge of the genre to try and guess which albums and songs the riffs have been taken from. The names of the bands are given, of course, but the rest is for pretty much up to you to figure it out. There are 41 parts containing riffs from 131 bands some of which do not really belong to the thrash metal genre, but those compilations make up for a great listen and are a total headbanging delight. All the parts have been uploaded on Youtube. This is the link to part 1 from where you will find the links to the rest.
